Commitment: The state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity
I am fully 100% committed. I can’t get any more committed than I already am…and the evidence of my commitment…? The results of what I’m doing now. This is the aha! moment for me. I can’t get more commitment. I am committed to what I’m already doing. Not what I want, not what I desire, not what I hope, but what I am doing. The proof is in the pudding. Recognition and owning that what I’m doing now is not producing the results I want gives pause for me to define what IT is that I’m committed to.
And here’s the scary realization…I’m committed to being stuck. The amazing part is that I have the perfect formula for getting stuck, staying stuck and wanting something else.
Here is how you do it:
- Don’t set goals.
- When you start to think about your goals, find 10 other things to do instead.
- Instead of working on your actual goals, spend some time researching them.
- Don’t put anything on your calendar.
- Fill your time with less enjoyable things.
- Change your mind a lot. If you get started on something, just switch.
- Believe that you are not good enough to do the things you want to do.
- Believe that it’s not possible to do the things you want.
- Believe that you don’t have the time to spend on it.
- Write about being stuck.
Now, I think I will go do something completely the opposite, but if you want to be stuck and need some help with it. I know a guy.
